How brokered DTF transfers work
Some large transfer companies don't print every order themselves. Your files go into a network, and the job gets routed to a third-party print shop, often whichever one is closest, cheapest, or has open capacity that day.
That means two orders placed on different days can be printed by different shops, on different machines, with different inks, films, powders, and heat settings. You pay the same price and upload the same file, but what shows up in the box can look and feel different.
For a print shop or brand, consistency is the product. If a reorder comes back a shade off, or peels differently than the last batch, you're the one explaining it to your customer.

How to tell if your supplier is a broker
Most brokers don't advertise it. A few questions sort it out quickly:
- Where exactly are my transfers printed? A shop that prints in-house can name the facility. A vague answer is a sign.
- Do reorders look different? Color shifts, different film thickness, or changing peel behavior between batches often mean different shops.
- Do press instructions change between orders? Different films need different settings. If your instructions keep changing, so is the printer.
- Can support see the print floor? Ask a specific question about your file and see whether the answer comes from someone who printed it.
